A native of Jackson County, Joseph Roberson
has been practicing law in Seymour, Indiana, since January of 1983.
Before opening up his private law practice, Joe was a deputy prosecutor
for the Morgan County Prosecutor’s Office from 1981-1982.
Joe is also a certified mediator, trained to mediate both civil
and family law cases. He was also the Public Defender in the Jackson
Circuit Court from 1983 until the end of 2002. He is a member of
the Indiana State Bar Association and the Indiana Public Defender’s
Council.

| Joe was admitted to the Indiana State Bar
in May of 1981 and is also admitted to practice before the federal
U.S. District Court of Southern Indiana. He graduated from Wabash
College in 1976 and from Indiana University School of Law (Indianapolis)
in 1981.
In addition to his legal career, Joe also served 26 years in the
Indiana National Guard, retiring in April, 2003, with the rank of
Lieutenant Colonel. He enlisted in March, 1977, and received his
commission as a Second Lieutenant at the Fort Benning Officer’s
Candidate School (OCS) in September, 1978. His branch of service
was infantry.

Among his awards and decorations he received during his military service
was the Meritorious Service Medal (w/Oak Leaf Cluster); the Army Commendation
Medal (w/Oak Leaf Cluster); and the Army Achievement Medal (w/Oak Leaf
Cluster). Joe was the distinguished honor graduate of his training brigade
at Advance Individual Training (AIT) at Ft. Benning, GA, in 1977, and
he graduated on the Commandant’s List at OCS in 1978.
In his spare time, Joe is a free lance writer, painter, and avid music
fan of artists like Pete Townshend & The Who, Freddie Hubbard, Miles
Davis, and his old neighbor, John Mellencamp. Joe is married and has two
step-sons. One day he will write a successful movie screenplay.
